RADIATOR, Engine Cooling: Removal: Radiator
WARNING:
RISK OF INJURY TO SKIN AND EYES FROM SCALDING WITH HOT COOLANT. RISK OF POISONING FROM SWALLOWING COOLANT. DO NOT OPEN COOLING SYSTEM UNLESS COOLANT TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 90°C (194°F). OPEN CAP SLOWLY TO RELEASE PRESSURE. STORE COOLANT IN SUITABLE AND APPROPRIATELY MARKED CONTAINER. WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES, CLOTHES, AND EYE WEAR.
NOTE:
Capture all residual fluid spillage and store in suitably marked containers. Inspect condition of all clamps and hoses, replace as necessary.
- Disconnect the auxiliary battery negative cable.
- Drain coolant. See Standard Procedure
- Remove grille. Refer to Body/Exterior/GRILLE - Removal
- Detach radiator hose (16) at bottom right of radiator and position aside.
- Disconnect transmission cooler lines (22) at radiator and position aside.CAUTION: DO NOT crimp or bend lines.
- Remove front bumper. Refer to Frame and Bumpers/Bumpers/BUMPER, Front - Removal
- Remove Intake Air Housing. Refer to Engine/Air Intake System/AIR CLEANER - Removal
- Remove Condenser Fan. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning/Plumbing/FAN, A/C Condenser - Removal
- Detach both coolant recovery hoses (21) at radiator and position aside.
- Disconnect wiring connector at coolant level sensor.
- Remove upper radiator hose (9) and position aside.
- Remove radiator fan. See Removal .
- Remove radiator fan shroud (2).
- Separate A/C condenser from radiator by disengaging the retaining tabs that secure to the top of the radiator support, angle upward on the A/C condenser starting first on the right hand side and working towards the left hand side. Once separated, secure A/C condenser to upper radiator support with a strap or bungee cord.
- Disconnect charge air hoses (2) and (10) at intercooler (if equipped) and position aside.
- Remove bolts securing intercooler (if equipped) to radiator (7).
- Remove intercooler (if equipped) (5).
- Lift the radiator assembly up and out of the rubber grommets angle upward on the A/C condenser starting first on the right hand side and working towards the left hand side.
