3.0L Diesel Engine

NOTE: Clean all mating surfaces.
  1. Properly position water pump with new gasket to the engine and tighten bolts to 14 N.m (10 ft. lbs.).
  2. Install the EGR airflow valve assembly. Refer to Emissions Control/Exhaust Gas Recirculation/VALVE, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Airflow Control - Installation
  3. Install the oil dipstick retaining bolt.
  4. Install the lower charge air cooler hose.

  5. Install the generator. Refer to Electrical - Engine Systems/Charging/GENERATOR - Installation
  6. Install the serpentine belt (1). See Installation

  7. Install the fan drive belt (2). See Installation 
  8. Install the fan and shroud. See Installation 
  9. NOTE: The radiator fan assembly is attached (threaded) to the fan pulley (1). Install the fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly to the fan pulley by turning the mounting nut counter-clockwise as viewed from the front. Threads on the radiator cooling fan are REVERSE THREADED (LEFT-HAND THREAD).
  10. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine - Installation
  11. Install the air box assembly. Refer to Engine/Air Intake System/BODY, Air Cleaner - Removal
  12. Connect the AGM starter negative battery cable located inside the vehicle under the instrument panel near the accelerator pedal. Refer to Electrical - Engine Systems/Battery System/BATTERY - Description
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Evacuate air and refill the cooling system. See Standard Procedure 
  15. Check cooling system for leaks. See Diagnosis and Testing
