Diagnostic Test

  1. VERIFY ACTIVE OR STORED DTC 
    NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTC.

      Does the scan tool display active: 9082-LEFT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR 1 INCORRECT SENSOR?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

  2. REPLACE THE LEFT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR 1 
    WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
    1. Replace the Left Side Impact Sensor 1 in accordance with the Service Information.
    2. Remove any special tools or jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components - except the Battery.
      WARNING: Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all DTC in all Restraint System Modules.
    4. Turn the Ignition off, wait 15 seconds, then turn the Ignition on.
    5. Wait one minute before proceeding.
    6. With the scan tool, read active ORC DTC.

      Does the scan tool display: 9082-LEFT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR 1 INCORRECT SENSOR?

      Yes 

        WARNING: If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and serious or fatal injury.
        WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
      • Replace the ORC in accordance with the Service information.
      • Perform *RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/CONTROLLER, Occupant Restraint (ORC) - Standard Procedure

      No
