Diagnostic Test

  1. ENGINE OIL SENSOR CIRCUITS OPEN
NOTE: Ensure the engine oil level is at the specified level and the engine oil filter is the specified filter for this specific engine application.
NOTE: The engine must be at operating temperature for this test.
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect Engine Oil Sensor harness connector.
    3. Disconnect Engine Control Module (ECM) harness connector.
    4. Measure the resistance of each Engine Oil Sensor circuit (3) between the Engine Oil Sensor harness connector and the ECM harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms for each of the measurements?

      Yes

      • Go To step  2

      No

  2. ENGINE OIL SENSOR CIRCUITS SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Measure the resistance between ground and each of the Engine Oil Sensor circuits (3) at the Engine Oil Sensor harness connector.

Is the resistance above 1000 ohms for each of the measurements?

      Yes

      • Go To step  3

      No

  3. ENGINE OIL SENSOR CIRCUITS SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Remove the Main Relay from the TIPM.
    2. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 30 and cavity 87 of the Main Relay connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Measure the voltage between ground and each of the Engine Oil Sensor circuits (3) at the Engine Oil Sensor harness connector.

Is there voltage present on any of the circuits?

      Yes

      No
