Fuel Injectors: Removal

  1. Release fuel system pressure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE  .
  2. Remove the battery cover and disconnect negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly, refer to AIR CLEANER HOUSING .
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector to the MAP sensor and Coolant Temperature sensor. See Fig 1.

    3 - Coolant Temperature Sensor
    4 - Fuel Injector
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector to the TPS and Idle Air Control. See Fig 2.

  6. Remove the wiring harness from the wiring clips under thew throttle body. See Fig 3.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel injectors. See Fig 4.

  8. Disconnect the fuel line quick connector. See Fig 5.

  9. Remove the bolts for the fuel rail. See Fig 6.

  10. Pull fuel rail and injectors straight up and out of the intake manifold.
  11. Move the fuel rail forward and out from under the intake manifold and throttle body. See Fig 7.

  12. Remove the fuel injector from the fuel rail. See Fig 8.
