Passenger Airbag: Installation

Follow all Warnings for airbag component service (Refer to ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS - WARNING) .

  1. Place passenger airbag into position and install four screws. Tighten to proper torque.
  2. Place instrument panel cover/pad into position and install twelve screws, two bolts, and one electrical connector to instrument panel cover/pad.
  3. Install five screws to right lower instrument panel.
  4. Install three screws retaining glove box assembly.
  5. Install two screws and one electrical connector to low tire pressure module.
  6. Install two screws and one electrical connector to remote keyless entry module.
  7. Install five screws and two electrical connectors to the instrument cluster gauge pack.
  8. Install four screws and two electrical connectors to the instrument cluster.
  9. With the help of an assistant, carefully place the instrument panel in place inside of vehicle.
  10. Install the ten nuts to instrument panel studs in engine compartment.
  11. Install two bolts and one nut and ground wire at the wiper cowl.
  12. Place HVAC exterior intake plenum into place and install four screws.
  13. Place the left side wiper cowl screen into position and install the five screws.
  14. Place the right side wiper cowl screen into position and install the five screws.
  15. Close vehicle hood.
  16. Install the left and right wiper arms on each wiper arm pivot.
  17. Connect the two occupant restraint controller electrical connectors.
  18. Connect the occupant restraint controller ground wires.
  19. Connect electrical connectors to radio and install radio and four retaining screws.
  20. Place A-pillar trim into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
  21. Place right instrument panel speaker grille into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
  22. Install the right side instrument panel retaining bolts.
  23. Connect the three right side electrical connectors and one ground bolt.
  24. Reach up underneath the instrument panel and connect the passenger airbag electrical connector.
  25. Place right cowl kick panel over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
  26. Place right sill plate into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
  27. Connect electrical connector at left A-piller.
  28. Place left A-pillar trim into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place. Install one retaining screw.
  29. Place left instrument panel speaker grille into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
  30. Install two retaining bolts to instrument panel at steering column opening.
  31. Install one bolt and one nut to the left brace to instrument panel.
  32. Install ground wire nuts at left floor tunnel.
  33. Connect five left side instrument panel electrical connectors.
  34. Place steering column into position, install four steering column retaining nuts.
  35. Tighten steering column pinch bolt.
  36. Connect five steering column electrical connectors.
  37. Install two screws to upper and lower steering column shrouds.
  38. Install knee blocker in position and connect one electrical connector and two screws.
  39. Place left cowl kick panel into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place. Install one screw and two push pins.
  40. Place the left sill plate into position over the retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
  41. Connect one electrical connector to instrument panel center bezel, place center bezel into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place. Install six allen.
  42. Place center console into position in vehicle connect one electrical connector and install eight screws.
  43. Install parking brake body and floor console bezel.
  44. Install shifter shaft with knob and body.
  45. Install six allen screws to shifter bezel.
    WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE (Refer to ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - AIRBAG SYSTEM) .
  46. Place battery access cover into place and install four bolts.
  47. Close deck lid.
  48. Verify vehicle and system operation.
