Wheel Speed Sensor - Front: Removal
NOTE:
Before proceeding review Warnings and Cautions. (Refer to BRAKES - WARNING)
and (Refer to BRAKES - CAUTION) .
- Raise vehicle. (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Remove wheel and tire assembly. (Refer to TIRES/WHEELS - REMOVAL)
- Disconnect vehicle wiring harness from wheel speed sensor wiring connector at frame rail.
- Remove sensor wiring connector clip from frame rail.
- Remove sensor harness from routing clips along brake flex hose.
- Remove bolt fastening sensor head to steering knuckle. See Fig 1.
1 - KNUCKLE 2 - WHEEL SPEED SENSOR 3 - MOUNTING BOLT CAUTION: When removing a wheel speed sensor from the knuckle, do not use pliers on the sensor head. This may damage the sensor head. If the sensor has seized, use a hammer and a punch to tap the edge of the sensor head ear, rocking the sensor side-to-side until free. - Carefully remove sensor head from steering knuckle.
