Control Circuit Testing

The starter control circuit components should be tested in the order in which they are listed, as follows:

• Starter Relay  - See STARTER RELAY  under COMPONENT TESTING.
• Starter Solenoid  - See STARTER SOLENOID  under COMPONENT TESTING.
• Ignition Switch  - See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
• Clutch Pedal Position Switch  - If equipped with manual transmission, See appropriate CLUTCHES article.
• Park/Neutral Position Switch  - If equipped with automatic transmission, See appropriate SERVICING article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
• Wire harnesses and connections  - See WIRING DIAGRAMS
