Front Wheel Speed Sensor: Removal

NOTE: Before proceeding, (Refer to BRAKES - WARNING )(Refer to BRAKES - CAUTION ).
  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Remove wheel and tire assembly. (Refer to TIRES/WHEELS - REMOVAL ).
  3. Disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from the wheel speed sensor wiring connector at the frame rail.
  4. Remove sensor wiring connector clip from frame rail.
  5. Remove the sensor harness from the routing clips along brake flex hose and flex hose metal bracket (Fig 1 ).

  6. Remove the bolt fastening the sensor head to the steering knuckle.
  7. CAUTION: When removing a wheel speed sensor from the knuckle, do not use pliers on the sensor head. This may damage the sensor head. If the sensor has seized, use a hammer and a punch to tap the edge of the sensor head ear, rocking the sensor side-to-side until free.
  8. Carefully remove the sensor head from the steering knuckle.
