Front Wheel Speed Sensor: Installation

CAUTION: Failure to install speed sensors properly may result in contact with moving parts or an over extension of wires causing an open circuit. Be sure that sensor harnesses are installed, routed, and clipped properly.
  1. Install the wheel speed sensor head in the steering knuckle (Figure ). Install the mounting bolt. Tighten the mounting bolt to a torque of 11 N.m (100 in.lbs.).
  2. Install the speed sensor harness grommet into the metal retaining bracket attached to the brake hose (Figure ).
  3. Route the sensor harness along the brake hose and install it in the routing clips (Figure ).
  4. Push the sensor connector fastener clip into the hole in the frame rail.
  5. Connect the vehicle wiring harness to the sensor connector.
  6. Install the tire and wheel assembly (Refer to TIRES/WHEELS - INSTALLATION ). Progressively tighten the wheel mounting nuts in the proper sequence to 122 N.m (90 ft. lbs.) torque.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Road test vehicle to ensure proper operation of the base brakes and ABS.
