Power Window Motor

NOTE: Power window motor and regulator are serviced as an assembly.
  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Remove door trim panel from the door with the suspect power window motor. See DOOR TRIM PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Disconnect power window motor harness connector. Using 2 jumper wires, connect one jumper to a 12-volt source and the other to known-good ground. Apply power and ground to suspect power window motor terminals (component side). Power window motor should operate, unless window is already at maximum travel.
  3. Reverse jumper wires. Power window motor should operate in opposite direction. If power window motor does not operate in either direction or operates in one direction only, replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. If power window motor operates in both directions, check window glass, tracks and regulator for sticking, binding or improper adjustment. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If window glass, tracks and regulator are okay, repair circuit(s) between power window motor and power window switch as necessary.
