Using Generic Scan Tool

  1. Refer to scan tool manufacturer's for instructions on reading and erasing DTCs, and other scan tool functions. Scan tools may not have ability to measure voltage, resistance or continuity. When instructed, use of an additional DVOM may be required.
  2. Using the scan tool, read DTCs. If any DTC is present, go to appropriate procedure for DTC(s) displayed. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DAKOTA article. If no DTCs are present, identify customer complaint and diagnose by symptom(s) present. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
