Self-Diagnostic System: Introduction

Diagnostic procedures are based on the failure condition or symptom being present at the time of diagnosis. Follow the recommendations listed when choosing your diagnostic path.

  1. Ensure the DRBIII(R) is communicating with the appropriate modules; i.e., if the DRBIII(R) displays a NO RESPONSE or a BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN condition, diagnose that condition first. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - DURANGO article.
  2. Read DTCs with the DRBIII(R).
  3. If no DTCs are present, identify the customer complaint.
  4. Once the DTC or customer complaint is identified, locate the matching test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  table. Once all repairs are made, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . Recheck for DTCs. If no DTCs are present and fault still exists, go to SYSTEM TESTS  .
