Powertrain Verification Test VER-1

NOTE: After completing this Powertrain Verification Test, perform TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 (45RFE/545REF)  . If replacing the PCM, the correct vehicle mileage and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be programmed into PCM to prevent DTCs from being stored in Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) and Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Air Bag Control Module (ACM). See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under PROGRAMMING. If replacing PCM and vehicle is equipped with a Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), secret key data must also be updated to enable engine starting. See SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE  under PROGRAMMING.
  1. Turn the ignition off. Inspect the vehicle to ensure that all components related to the repair are properly installed and connected. Inspect the engine oil for fuel contamination. Replace the oil and filter as necessary.
  2. Attempt to start the engine. If the No-Start condition is still present, go to appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article for diagnosis by symptom.
  3. If the engine starts, run the engine for one warm-up cycle to verify operation. With the DRBIII(R), confirm that no DTCs or Secondary Indicators are present and that all components are functioning properly. Are any DTCs or symptoms remaining? If yes, check for any related Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and/or perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  table under DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS. If no, repair is complete.
