Starter Relay

  1. Locate starter relay in underhood fuse/relay box. See Figure . Remove starter relay. Using DVOM, measure resistance between starter relay terminals No. 1 and 3. See Fig 1 . If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, replace starter relay. If resistance is 2 ohms or less, go to next step.
  2. Using jumper wires, connect battery voltage to terminal No. 1 and battery ground to terminal No. 3. See Fig 1 . With battery connected, 2 ohms or less should exist between starter relay terminals No. 2 and 4. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, replace starter relay.
