Test No. 6: Washer Fluid Level Switch Signal Is Not Sent To ETACS ECU

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect washer fluid level switch connector located at the bottom of the washer fluid reservoir. Test washer fluid level switch by checking for continuity between washer fluid level switch terminals. With washer fluid level switch pulled up (full), continuity should not be indicated. With washer fluid level switch not pulled up (empty), continuity should be indicated. If washer fluid level switch tests as specified, go to next step. If washer fluid level switch does not test as specified, replace washer fluid level switch. Recheck washer fluid level switch input signal.
  2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or less, go to step  5 .
  3. Check for poor connections at washer fluid level switch connector terminals. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. Recheck washer fluid level switch input signal. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  4. Check for open in Black wire between washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 1 and ground. If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. Recheck washer fluid level switch input signal. If circuit is okay, system is okay at this time.
  5. Check for poor connections at ETACS ECU connector C312 and washer fluid level switch connector terminals. See Figure . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. Recheck washer fluid level switch input signal. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  6. Check for faulty Red/White wire between washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 2 and ETACS ECU connector C312 terminal No. 29. See Figure . If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. Recheck washer fluid level switch input signal. If circuit is okay, replace ETACS ECU.
