Preliminary Inspection

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position before disconnecting or connecting any control module connector or battery. When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

Before proceeding with TROUBLE SHOOTING, SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM, or SYSTEM TESTS, the following precautions must be followed:

Check fuses No. 3 and 12 (20-amp) located in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located in engine compartment, near air cleaner. Check fuse No. 5 (20-amp) and fuse No. 11 (10-amp) located in instrument panel junction block. Instrument panel junction block is located on left end of instrument panel. If any fuse is blown, check for short in wiring and repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
