Seat Belt Indicator Always Off

NOTE: Before proceeding with test, diagnose any stored Air Bag Control Module (ACM) DTCs first. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Gray 2-pin seat belt switch connector. Turn ignition on. If seat belt indicator remains illuminated after 15 seconds, replace seat belt switch. If seat belt indicator is not illuminated after 15 seconds, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Gray 10-pin instrument cluster connector C2. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and Gray 10-pin instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 3 (Dark Blue/Red wire). See Figure . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/Red wire between Gray 10-pin instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 3 and Gray 2-pin seat belt switch connector. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - DAKOTA & DURANGO article.
