No Response: Compass Mini Trip Computer (CMTC)

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector or battery.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect overhead console harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and overhead console connector terminal No. 7 (Black/Light Green wire) on Dakota (Black/Tan wire on Durango). If reading is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If reading is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Light Green wire (Black/Tan wire on Durango). Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  2. Connect test light between ground and overhead console connector terminal No. 5 (Pink wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open or short in Pink wire between overhead console connector and fuse No. 12 (15-amp) of Junction Block (JB). Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect test light between ground and overhead console connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue/White wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open or short in Dark Blue/White wire between overhead console connector and fuse No. 11 (10-amp) of JB. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  4. While observing scan tool, select SYSTEM MONITORS, then CCD BUS VOLTAGE. Turn internal bias test on. Connect jumper wire between ground and overhead console connector terminal No. 2 (Violet/Brown wire). If reading drops to about zero volts, go to next step. If reading does not drop to about zero volts, repair open in Violet/Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  5. While observing scan tool, select SYSTEM MONITORS, then CCD BUS VOLTAGE. Turn internal bias test on. Connect jumper wire between ground and overhead console connector terminal No. 8 (White/Black wire). If reading drops to about zero volts, go to next step. If reading does not drop to about zero volts, repair open in White/Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  6. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) from overhead console. Inspect wiring harness between overhead console connector and connector for CMTC. Check connectors for good terminal contact. If wiring and connectors are not okay, replace overhead console. If wiring and connectors are okay, replace CMTC. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
