Chime Inoperative With Warning Light/Gauge

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect CTM connectors. Disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) connectors. On base-line models, measure resistance of Light Green/Orange wire on Dakota or Light Green/Red wire on Durango between MIC connector C2 terminal No. 7 and CTM connector C1 terminal No. 12. On high-line models, measure resistance of Light Green/Orange wire on Dakota or Light Green/Red wire on Durango between MIC connector C2 terminal No. 7 and CTM connector C1 terminal No. 2. If reading is more than 5 ohms, repair open in tone request circuit (Light Green/Orange wire on Dakota; Light Green/Red wire on Durango) as necessary. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .If reading is 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
  2. Connect CTM connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a fused jumper wire connected to ground, probe MIC connector C2 terminal No. 7 (Light Green/Orange wire on Dakota) or (Light Green/Red wire on Durango). If CTM chimes, replace MIC. If CTM does not chime, replace CTM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
