VTSS Indicator Light On Constantly
NOTE:
Perform VTSS TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, select SYSTEM TEST, then PCM MONITOR. If scan tool displays PCM ACTIVE ON BUS, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PCM ACTIVE ON BUS, go to go to TEST 9A in appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article.
- Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS. Read decklid cylinder switch status. If scan tool displays CLOSED, go to step 6. If scan tool does not display CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect decklid cylinder switch. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) on cylinder switch harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire.
- Connect jumper wire across decklid cylinder switch harness connector terminals. Using scan tool, read decklid cylinder switch status. If scan tool displays CLOSED, replace decklid cylinder switch. If scan tool does not display CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue 16-pin connector C4. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue 16-pin connector C4. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure.
