All Doors Fail To Lock & Unlock From Any Switch

NOTE: For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, actuate door lock relay. If doors lock, go to next step. If doors do not lock, go to step  6 .
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at BCM connector "B" terminal No. 45 (White/Dark Green wire). If voltage is more than .5 volt, repair White/Dark Green wire for short to battery voltage. If voltage is .5 volt or less, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at BCM connector "B" terminal No. 45 (White/Dark Green wire). Hold driver's door lock switch in unlock position and observe resistance value. If resistance is 300 ohms or more, replace door lock switch and recheck power door system for additional codes or symptoms. If resistance is less than 300 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at BCM connector "B" terminal No. 55 (White/Light Green wire). If voltage is more than .5 volt, repair White/Light Green wire for short to battery voltage. If voltage is .5 volt or less, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at BCM connector "B" terminal No. 44 (White/Red wire). If voltage is more than .5 volt, repair White/Red wire for short to battery voltage. If voltage is .5 volt or less, replace BCM.
  6. Remove and inspect Power Distribution Center (PDC) fuse No. 26. See Figure . If fuse is open, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step  8 .
  7. NOTE: PDC fuse No. 26 also supplies voltage to power seat circuit. A short in power seat circuit can cause fuse to open when power door lock system is okay.
  8. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at outside terminal of PDC fuse No. 26 (component side of circuit). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair component side of circuit for short to ground.
  9. Install fuse No. 26. Remove door lock relay from junction block. See Figure . Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at door lock relay socket terminal No. 86. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open circuit between PDC and junction block. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  10. Connect test light between door lock relay socket terminals No. 85 and 86. Using scan tool, actuate door lock relay. If test light flashes, go to next step. If test light does not flash, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure .
  11. Turn ignition off. Turn off all lights. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at door lock relay socket terminal 87A. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open ground circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  12. Turn ignition on. Turn on all lights and accessories. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at door lock relay socket terminal 87A. If voltage is more than one volt, repair open ground circuit. If voltage is one volt or less, replace door lock relay.
