Timing Chain Cover: Removal

  1. Disconnect battery. Remove air cleaner assembly and hoses to throttle bodies. Drain cooling system. Remove coolant hoses from engine and radiator. Remove accessory drive belt. Disconnect generator wiring. Remove generator. See Fig 1.
  2. If equipped with A/C, remove compressor mounting bolts. If replacing timing chain cover, remove oil filter adapter and discard gasket. See Fig 2. If only removing timing chain cover, remove oil cooler lines at oil filter adapter.
  3. Remove crankshaft pulley and damper. Disconnect cam sensor electrical connector at chain case cover. Remove chain case cover fasteners and remove chain case cover. See Fig 3. Remove crankshaft oil seal and discard.
