Test 14A - No Fused Ignition Switch Output To BCM
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 14. If fuse is okay, go to step 6). If fuse is blown, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and fuse No. 14 (Dark Blue/White wire closest to top of junction block). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace fuse No. 14. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect headliner connector at junction block. See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and fuse No. 14 (Dark Blue/ White wire closest to bottom of junction block). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to TEST 7A . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect junction block connector C7. Measure resistance between ground and junction block connector C7 terminal No. 5 (Dark Blue/White wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM from junction block. Measure resistance between ground and junction block internal 20-pin connector terminal No. 5. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace junction block and fuse No. 14. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM and fuse No. 14.
- Turn ignition on. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and fuse No. 14 (Dark Blue/White wire closest to bottom of junction block). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Dark Blue/White wire between ignition switch and junction block. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall fuse No. 14. Disconnect BCM from junction block. Ensure all junction block connectors are connected. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and junction block internal 20-pin connector terminal No. 5. See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace junction block. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
