Test 9A - No Response From Radio
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- If radio screen is not blank, go to step 5). If radio screen is blank, remove and inspect fuse No. 4. If fuse is open, go to TEST 9B . If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Reinstall fuse. Access back of radio. Disconnect radio Gray 7-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and radio Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Red/White wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Red/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and radio Gray 7-pin connector terminal No. 7 (Pink wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Ensure radio ground circuit and antenna are correctly installed. Repair as needed. If radio ground circuit and antenna were correctly installed, replace radio.
- Disconnect radio PCI 2-pin connector. Turn ignition on and open all doors. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and PCI 2-pin connector, terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Violet wire). If voltage is more than .5 volt, replace radio. If voltage is .5 volt or less, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is connected to junction block. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance of Yellow/Violet wire between BCM Gray 14-pin connector terminal No. 5 and radio PCI connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace radio. If resistance is 5 ohms or more ohms, repair open Yellow/Violet wire.
