Windshield Wiper Test 6B - Front Wiper Park Circuit Short
NOTE:
Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1B - IDENTIFYING FAULT MESSAGES
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Operate wipers in intermittent mode. Using scan tool, monitor wiper park switch. If scan tool displays wiper park switch toggles from CLOSED to OPEN, system is currently operating correctly. Clear any stored trouble codes and try to reproduce fault. If scan tool does not display that wiper park switch toggles from CLOSED to OPEN, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect wiper module connector. See Figure in WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 2C. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 2 (Dark Green/White wire) on module connector. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace wiper motor. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Dark Green/White wire) on module connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Dark Green/White wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
