Camshaft Position Sensor: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Camshaft position sensor is located on top of timing chain cover, just below thermostat housing. Disconnect electrical connector at camshaft position sensor.
- Remove retaining bolt that holds camshaft position sensor to front of cylinder block. Retaining bolt may be accessed through the hole in bracket on front of engine.
- Rotate camshaft position sensor away from cylinder block so mounting flange on camshaft position sensor moves away from front of cylinder block. Remove camshaft position sensor with "O" ring from timing chain cover. It may be necessary to lightly tap on top of camshaft position sensor to aid in the removal. DO NOT pull on electrical lead when removing camshaft position sensor.
CAUTION:
If camshaft position sensor is reused, old paper spacer must be removed from camshaft end of camshaft position sensor and a NEW paper spacer installed before installing camshaft position sensor. If using a NEW camshaft position sensor, ensure paper spacer is installed on camshaft end of camshaft position sensor.
