Shift Cable

  1. Park vehicle on level surface. Apply parking brake. Place shift lever in Park and remove ignition key. Loosen shift cable retaining nut at shift operating lever on transaxle.
  2. Pull shift operating lever on transaxle fully forward to the Park detent position. Release parking brake and move vehicle back and forth to ensure transaxle is in Park.
  3. Tighten shift cable retaining nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Ensure shift lever indicator indicates proper gear position when moving shift lever. If shift cable is properly adjusted, engine should only start with shift lever in Park and Neutral.
