Information Center Test 4A - Engine Temperature Warning Light Driver Circuit
NOTE:
Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see appropriate sections in this article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Start engine. If engine temperature light is illuminated, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 4B. If engine temperature light is not illuminated, go to next step.
- Turn engine off. Using scan tool, actuate engine temperature light. If engine temperature light illuminates, warning light system is currently functioning correctly. If engine temperature light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Access information center connector. DO NOT disconnect connector. Using external voltmeter, backprobe information center connector. Measure voltage on terminal No. 10 (Brown/Pink wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Brown/Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect engine temperature warning light bulb. Replace as needed. Reinstall bulb and reconnect information center connector. Backprobe information center connector with jumper wire. Connect jumper between chassis ground and terminal No. 6 (Violet wire). If engine temperature warning light does not illuminate, replace information center. If engine temperature warning light illuminates, go to next step.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM) "A" connector. BCM is located with junction block. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A. Remove cover from "A" connector. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and terminal No. 6 (Violet wire). If engine temperature warning light does not illuminate, repair open violet wire. If engine temperature warning light illuminates, replace BCM.
