DTC 53 - Motor Relay Circuit
NOTE:
If after all testing procedures have been completed system is not functioning properly, substitute ECU with known-good unit and retest.
- Using scan tool, perform Hydraulic Unit (HU) actuator test. If motor is not operating, go to next step. If motor is still operating, repair wiring harness between hydraulic unit and ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAM .
- Inspect motor relay. If relay is okay, Disconnect relay 5-pin connector. Using a DVOM, check voltage between 5-pin connector terminal No. 11 and ground. See Fig 1. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check and repair wiring harness between ABS motor relay and fusible link No. 7. See WIRING DIAGRAM .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECU connector. Check resistance between ECU connector terminals No. 77 and 82. Resistance should be 78-88 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, check and repair connectors and related wiring harness between motor relay and ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAM .
- Check resistance between ECU connector terminal No. 65 and ground. Resistance should be 0.1-0.3 ohm. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, check and repair HU motor ground connection or wiring harness between ECU and HU. See WIRING DIAGRAM .
- Check motor operation. Momentarily apply battery voltage to hydraulic unit 2-pin connector terminal No. 11 (Red/Yellow wire). If motor operates, check and repair ECU connector. If connector is okay, replace ECU. If motor does not operate, replace HU.
