Checking Intake Air Temperature Sensor

Turn ignition on with engine off. DO NOT  allow more than 5 minutes to elapse when taking air temperature readings. Using scan tool, read Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor and record reading. Turn ignition off. Remove Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. MAP sensor is located next to IAT sensor. Using an air temperature probe, measure intake air temperature in MAP sensor opening. If IAT sensor reading is within 15°F (9.4°C) of air temperature probe reading, install MAP sensor. IAT sensor is functioning okay. Test is complete. If IAT sensor reading is not within 15°F (9.4°C) of air temperature probe reading, replace IAT sensor. Perform TEST VER-2 .
