CCS-6 Test - Cruise Control System Resume Circuit Check

  1. Connect diagnostic read-out box to diagnostic connector in engine compartment. Place system in Sensor Test Mode "09". See ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS  under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS in this article. Move cruise control "ON/OFF" switch to "ON" position. Connect jumper wire between Dark Blue/White wire and White wire of cruise control switch harness connector, without disconnecting harness. See Fig 1 . If "01" is displayed on diagnostic read-out box, replace cruise control switch. If "00" is displayed on diagnostic read-out box, go to next step.

  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 60-pin connector from SMEC. Connect negative lead of voltmeter to ground and positive voltmeter lead to cavity No. 7 of 60-pin connector. See Fig 2 . DO NOT  disconnect cruise control switch electrical connector. Turn ignition on. Press "RESUME" on cruise control switch. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, replace SMEC (defective logic board). Ensure terminal in cavity No. 7 of 60-pin connector is not damaged, causing a poor connection, before replacing SMEC. If voltmeter reading is zero volt, repair White wire in cavity No. 7 of 60-pin connector (open circuit to cruise control switch).
