CCS-5 Test - Cruise Control System Set Function Check
- Connect diagnostic read-out box to diagnostic connector in engine compartment. Place system in Sensor Test Mode "09". See ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS in this article. Move cruise control "ON/OFF" switch to "ON" position. Connect jumper wire between Dark Blue/White wire and Brown/Red wire of cruise control switch harness connector, without disconnecting connector. See Fig 1 . If diagnostic read-out box display is "00", replace cruise control switch. If diagnostic read-out box display is "10", go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 60-pin connector from SMEC. Connect negative lead of voltmeter to ground and positive voltmeter lead to cavity No. 9 of 60-pin connector. See Fig 2 . DO NOT disconnect cruise control switch electrical connector. Turn ignition on. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, replace SMEC (defective logic board). Ensure terminal in cavity No. 9 of 60-pin connector is not damaged, causing a poor connection, before replacing SMEC. If voltmeter reading is zero volt, repair Brown/Red wire in cavity No. 9 of 60-pin connector (open circuit to cruise control switch).
