Dr4 - Code 22, Code 17/22 - Coolant Sensor Circuit

  1. With diagnostic readout tool connected to engine, turn ignition off. Unplug connector from coolant sensor. Place system in Sensor Test Mode 04. Display should read 00°. If temperature reading is 260°, ensure wire to cavity No. 3 of 60-way connector is not shorted to ground. If wiring is okay, replace logic module (multiply reading on display by 10 for actual reading).

  2. If display reads correctly, connect jumper wire between terminals of coolant sensor connector. If display reads 260°, replace coolant sensor. If display reads 00°, connect one end of jumper wire to negative battery terminal. Connect other end of jumper wire to Tan/White wire terminal of coolant sensor harness connector.
  3. Display should read 260°. If display reads 260°, repair Black/Light Blue wire of coolant sensor harness connector for open to wiring harness splice. If display reads 00°, repair Tan/White wire for open circuit to logic module.
