Carburetor Switch Test

  1. With the engine at normal operating temperature, turn the ignition off and disconnect 10-pin connector from computer. With throttle completely closed, check continuity with ohmmeter leads connected to terminal "7" and ground.
    NOTE: Grounding carburetor switch eliminates spark advance on most systems and provides fixed air/fuel ratio on feedback carburetor systems.
  2. If there is no continuity, check wire from terminal "7" to carburetor switch terminal. Also check carburetor switch for proper operation. Open throttle and check for continuity from terminal "7" to ground. There should be no continuity. If readings are not as outlined, replace carburetor switch.
