3.7L & 5.2L EFC System: Description

NOTE: All 3.7L and some 5.2L models use the Spark Control Computer with Spark Advance and Throttle Control systems. Only models with Carter BBD and Holley 6145 feedback carburetors use oxygen sensor feedback system.

The Electronic Fuel Control (EFC) is an electronically controlled system that closely controls air/fuel ratio and ignition timing. The Spark Control Computer (SCC) is the heart of the system.

This computer provides the capability of igniting a lean air/fuel mixture according to different modes of engine operation; plus, during closed loop operation, the computer maintains the air/fuel mixture close to the ideal ratio of 14.7:1.
