Alternator Belt Adjustment

ALTERNATOR BELT ADJUSTMENT

Application (1) Deflection - In. (mm)
3-Cylinder (2) .200-.276 (5.01-7.01)
4-Cylinder
New Belt (3) .160-.200 (4.00-5.01)
Used Belt .200-.240 (5.01-6.01)
(1) Deflection is with 22 lbs. (10 kg) pressure applied midway between alternator and water pump pulley.
(2) After installing new belt, operate engine for at least 5 minutes and then recheck.
(3) New belt is referred to as a belt that has been in operation less than 5 minutes.
