Transaxle Assembly: Installation

  1. Support transaxle with a transaxle support jack. Install transaxle by inserting transaxle input shaft into clutch disc and sliding transaxle sideways into engine block. See Figure . Install lower transaxle-to-engine bolts. See Figure . Tighten lower transaxle-to-engine bolts to 55 ft. lbs. (75 N.m).
  2. Install left rear transaxle support bracket and bolts. Tighten left rear transaxle support bracket bolts to 44 ft. lbs. (60 N.m). Install left front transaxle support bracket and bolts. Tighten left front transaxle support bracket bolts to 44 ft. lbs. (60 N.m). Install center rear transaxle support bracket and transaxle support bracket bolts. See Figure . Tighten center rear transaxle support bracket bolts to 66 ft. lbs. (90 N.m).
  3. Install both of drive axle shafts. Lower vehicle. Install upper transaxle-to-engine bolts. Tighten upper transaxle-to-engine bolts to 55 ft. lbs. (75 N.m). Remove engine support fixture (J-28467-B). Install clutch release cylinder bracket and clutch release cylinder bracket bolts. Tighten clutch release cylinder bracket bolts to 55 ft. lbs. (75 N.m). See Figure .
  4. Install bolt and clip onto universal joint. Connect speedometer speed sensor electrical connector. Connect backup lamp switch electrical connector. See Figure . Inspect fluid level.
