Password Programming

If a transmitter is lost or damaged, module/receiver must be reprogrammed to communicate with a new transmitter. The passwords recorded in module/receiver should not be deleted when power is off in module/receiver. Each module/receiver should be able to record 5 passwords. The following method is used to record new passwords in module/receiver:

1. Connect scan tool to data link connector (DLC) Turn ignition ON. Send programming mode message to module/receiver. Press any button on transmitter to generate a data code including a password which will be recorded by module/receiver. The module/receiver sends a response message to scan tool to indicate that first password has been recorded.
2. Repeat action of pressing any button on transmitter until module/receiver has responded that second, third, fourth, and fifth passwords have been recorded. Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect scan tool.
3. The module/receiver will exit programming mode and switch to normal operating mode when either of following conditions occurs:

• The scan tool is disconnected from DLC.
• 5 passwords have been recorded in module/receiver.
