Control Arm: Installation
- Install control arm onto vehicle. Connect front of control arm to body of vehicle with front mounting bolt and washer. See Fig 1
. Apply a thread sealer to control arm rear mounting bolts. Connect rear of control arm to body of vehicle with rear mounting bracket and bolts.CAUTION: Do not tighten control arm bolts at this point.NOTE: Use a new self-locking nut to install control arm link bolt assembly. Failure to do so will allow normal vibration of vehicle to loosen nut and damage vehicle.
- Install stabilizer shaft link bolt assembly. Connect ball joint to steering knuckle. Tighten ball joint-to-knuckle nut. Tighten ball joint-to-knuckle nut to 70 N.m (52 ft. lbs.). Connect retaining clip to ball joint stud. Install wheel. Raise vehicle. Place jackstands under control arms. Lower vehicle.CAUTION: The control arms must support weight of vehicle while control arm mounting bolts are being tightened.
- Tighten control arm rear mounting bolts. Tighten control arm rear mounting bolts to 70 N.m (52 ft. lbs.). Tighten control arm front mounting bolt to 140 N.m (103 ft. lbs.). Raise vehicle. Remove jackstands. Lower vehicle.
