Transmission Control Module (TCM): Notes

NOTE: If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable(s).
  2. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the bolts that secure the transmission mount to the transmission and lower to gain access to the TCM. Refer to MOUNT, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Disconnect the TCM wire harness connector.

  5. Remove the TCM mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the TCM cover.
  7. Remove the TCM from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
