Tank, Fuel: Installation
WARNING:
No sparks, open flames or smoking. Risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel. Pour fuel only into appropriately marked OSHA approved containers. Wear protective clothing. Risk of injury to eyes and skin from contact with fuel.
- If removed, install the fuel pump modules. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, INSTALLATION .
- Using a suitable hydraulic jack with a fuel tank adapter, support the fuel tank.
- Carefully raise the fuel tank into position while guiding the Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery (ORVR) vent line through bracket.
- Install the fuel tank straps (1). Tighten bolts to the proper torque specification. Refer to FUEL DELIVERY, GAS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the fuel supply line (1).
- Connect the vapor line (1).
- Connect the EVAP line (1) in the right rear wheel well.
- Install the heat shield (1) and fasteners (2).
- Install the driveshaft. Refer to INSTALLATION

- Install the muffler and tailpipe assembly (2). Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, INSTALLATION

- Connect the fuel filler tube (2) to the rubber hose (1) on the fuel tank.
- Install the fuel filler tube hose clamp (1) and securely tighten.
- Connect the ORVR vent line (3).
- Install the fuel filler tube retaining nut (5) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to FUEL DELIVERY, GAS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the left wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, INSTALLATION .
- Install the left rear tire. Refer to INSTALLATION

- Install the left underbody splash shield (1).
- Install the right underbody splash shield (1).
- Remove support and lower the vehicle.
- Fill the fuel tank.
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector. Connect the negative battery cable.
- Use the scan tool to pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks.
