Removal And Installation: Left: Installation

NOTE:

The intake and exhaust solenoids are not interchangeable.

  1. Install the variable valve timing solenoid seals (1). The seals can be reused if not damaged.

  2. Refer to the markings made at disassembly and install the exhaust variable valve timing solenoid in the original location.
  3. Install the exhaust variable valve timing solenoid and securely tighten the mounting bolts (1).
  4. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the exhaust variable valve timing solenoid.

  5. Refer to the markings made at disassembly and install the intake variable valve timing solenoid in the original location.
  6. Install the intake variable valve timing solenoid and securely tighten the mounting bolts (1).
  7. Attach the wiring harness retainer (2) to the intake variable valve timing solenoid.
  8. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the intake variable valve timing solenoid.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
NOTE:

The Cam/Crank Variation Relearn procedure must be performed using the scan tool anytime there has been a repair/replacement made to a powertrain system, for example: flywheel, valvetrain, camshaft and/or crankshaft sensors or components.
