Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING:

Hot, pressurized coolant can cause injury by scalding. Cooling system must be partially drained before removing the coolant temperature sensor.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and/or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  6. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor wire harness connector (1).

  7. Release the lock tab on the bottom of the ECT.

  8. Rotate the ECT a 1/4 turn counter clockwise and remove the ECT sensor (1).
