Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Position the steering column in the vehicle. Install the four steering column nuts (1), and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Install the wire retainer (2) back onto the steering column.

  3. Connect the steering column to the steering gear. The hole in steering column must align with whistle notch in the steering gear. Hand start a NEW pinch bolt (1)  and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install the lower steering column shroud. Refer to SHROUD, STEERING COLUMN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Install the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
