MODULE, Steering Column Control: Installation: Installation: SCCM

- Position the SCCM (3) over the steering column shaft (2).
- Install the three screws (1).
- Connect the electrical connectors (2) to the instrument panel harness, ensure wiring is properly routed. Then check that the connectors, locking tabs are properly engaged.
- Install steering column shrouds. See Steering/Column/SHROUD, Steering Column - Installation . Be sure all wires are inside of shrouds.
- Install steering wheel ensuring the flats on hub align with the clockspring. See Steering/Column/WHEEL, Steering - Installation . Pull the airbag leads through the larger slot. Ensure leads do not get pinched under the steering wheel.NOTE: There is a small wire harness in the steering wheel and it contains the horn circuits and speed control circuits.
- Connect the speed control and horn wire connector into the clockspring.
- Pull the grenade pin out of the clockspring.
- Install the driver airbag. Refer to Restraints/AIR BAG, Driver - InstallationWARNING: Do not connect the negative battery cable at this time. Perform the Air Bag System Test prior to connecting the negative battery cable. Refer to Restraints - Diagnosis and Testing . Failure to follow this warning may result in accidental air bag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
