MODULE, Fuel Pump: Installation: Installation
NOTE:
Whenever the fuel pump module is serviced, the rubber O-ring seal must be replaced.
- Install a new rubber O-ring seal.
- Lower the fuel pump module into the fuel tank allowing enough room to make the lower connections.
- Connect the fuel pump module fuel return lines (1,2).
- Connect the fuel supply line (1) to the fuel pump module.
- Connect the lower fuel pump module electrical connector (2).
- Connect the electrical connectors at the top of the fuel pump module.
- Join the upper and lower halves of the fuel pump module together.
- Position the fuel pump module in the fuel tank.
CAUTION: An indexing arrow is located on top of the fuel pump module to clock it's position into the fuel tank. The fuel pump module must be installed in the same position as removed.
- Align the rubber O-ring seal and lower the fuel pump module into position.
- Position the lock-ring over top of the fuel pump module.
- Rotate the fuel pump module until the embossed alignment arrow points to the center alignment mark or the same position as noted during removal. This step must be performed to prevent the float from contacting the side of the fuel tank.
- Install the lock-ring remover/installer 9340 (1) into the notches on the outside edge of the lock-ring.
- Install a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar into the lock-ring remover/installer 9340 (1).
- Rotate the breaker bar clockwise until all seven notches of the lock-ring have engaged.
- Connect the electrical connector (1) to the fuel pump module.
- Install the fuel pump module rubber access plug.
- Lower the foam pad covering back into place.
- Push the rear lower seat cushion back and down and install the seat cushion.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Fill the fuel tank and check for leaks.
