Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Dodge Avenger and 2010 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) monitors the operation of all pressure control solenoids. If a fault is detected during testing, the TCM will command the Clutch Cooling Flow Solenoid to a minimum flow, switch Clutch Shift Multiplex 2 Solenoid to open clutch 3, and block all not engaged gears to avoid damage to the transmission. It takes two consecutive one trip failures to set this DTC and illuminate the MIL.
