- Clean manifold to converter sealing surfaces.
- Position new gasket on converter inlet flange.
- Ensure exhaust manifold heat shield is in position, and loosely install converter with lower attaching bolt to exhaust manifold.
- Lower vehicle.
- Install 3 nuts attaching converter to manifold. Tighten nuts to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).
- Reconnect upstream oxygen sensor.
- Raise vehicle.
- Tighten remaining attaching bolt to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).
- Install cross-under pipe. See INSTALLATION .
- Lower vehicle.
- Connect negative battery cable.
- Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
- Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
