Diagnostic Test

  1. 1) DTC PRESENT 

    Turn the ignition on.

    With the scan tool, erase DTCs.

    Turn the ignition off, wait 30 seconds, then turn the ignition on.

    With the scan tool, read DTCs.

    Does the scan tool display: RUN ONLY RELAY SHORT TO BATTERY? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To step  2).

    No 

    1. The condition that caused the symptom is not currently present. Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that may apply. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 .
  2. 2) RUN ONLY RELAY 

    Turn the ignition off.

    Install a substitute relay in place of the existing Run Relay.

    With the scan tool, erase DTCs.

    Turn the ignition on.

    With the scan tool, read DTCs.

    Does the scan tool display: RUN ONLY RELAY SHORT TO BATTERY? 

    Yes 

    1. Replace the IPM in accordance with the Service Information.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 .

    No 

    1. Replace the Run Relay.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 .
